Daramu Program
The Daramu Program, delivered by Marist180 and funded by the National Indigenous Australians Agency, is a community-based initiative that supports Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people aged 12β18 in the Blacktown area. Since 2009, Daramu has worked alongside families and community members to help young people build stronger, safer, and more hopeful futures.
How It Works
The Daramu Program is built on connection β to culture, community, and self. Working hand in hand with our school, the team offers mentoring, cultural guidance, and encouragement to help students grow with pride and purpose. Through shared experiences, they support young people in setting meaningful goals and strengthening their cultural identity.
What the Program Offers
-
Individual mentoring and goal setting
-
Life skills and cultural workshops
-
Support to re-engage with education, family, and community
-
Guidance from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander role models
-
A culturally safe space for growth, reflection, and healing
Why It Matters
The Daramu Program is more than a service β itβs a community effort to nurture pride, purpose, and resilience in our young people. By helping participants reconnect with culture and community, Daramu empowers them to make positive choices and shape their own story with confidence and hope.
